MUN 2007-2008 Deadlines
Country Profiles and Position Papers*

CSU Fall Session I: Oct. 26, 2007
Lorain County MUN: Nov. 26, 2007
Session II: April 1, 2008

*Note: All Country Profiles and Position Papers must be submitted together by the deadlines listed above in order to be considered for awards.

Submission Guidelines

  • Each delegation in each committee will prepare
    • 1) a Country Profile and
    • 2) two Position Papers, one for each committee topic.
  • Delegations comprised of one delegate only, will prepare
    • 1) a Country Profile and
    • 2) one Position Paper.

Position Paper Guidelines


500 words in length printed on a single 8-1/2x11" sheet in 12-pt. font

Three sections:
1. Background of the topic
2. Explanation of the country's policy on the topic
3. Proposed solutions for the committee's consideration

Suggested development of each section of Position Papers:

I. Background of the topic
a. Setting, time period, definitions, or other important data
b. Significance of the issue for the country or the world
II. Country policy
a. Summarize political and/or foreign policy concerning the topic
b. Explain what past actions the nation has taken to address the topic
c. Include short excerpts of speeches by heads of government and ministers
III. Solutions
a. Propose solutions for the future
b. Explain what the nation feels resolutions must contain to pass
c. Conclude briefly with a policy statement about the topic
